Recipe for Portuguese Beef Recipe

Ingredients

4 lb (1.8kg) beef roast

1 tsp allspice

2 large onions, quartered

1 tbsp garlic, crushed

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 cup red wine

1 cup masarla wine

1 tin tomato sauce

water

pepper and salt to season

Method

In a large pot brown the beef on all sides in olive oil.

Add the remaining ingredients.

Bring it to a boil then reduce the heat and cover.

Simmer for 4 hours until meat is tender.

Keep an eye on the beef as you may need to top up with water if it starts to go a little dry.

When the beef is tender it should be a rich brown, suculent and ready to serve with your favourite vegetables.
