Filhozes Portuguese Doughnuts Recipe
Ingredients 2lb 8oz (1.1kg) flour 1 cup sugar 1 oz.butter 1 tsp salt 1 cup milk 2 pkt dry yeast, dissolved in 1/2 cup warm water 12 eggs, beaten Method Scald the milk (ie 82°C/180°F, nearly boiling) Add margarine and sugar, and then cool. Add eggs and yeast. Mix with flour until smooth (use hands or large mixer). Batter should be soft. Leave to double in volume. Shape the dough into circles. Drop a few at a time into hot oil and fry until golden brown. Fry until crispy. Drain well on kitchen roll and roll in sugar. Best eaten whilst still warm. Cooks Comments and Tips . |
