Portuguese Sweet Bread Recipe
Ingredients 2 pkts yeast dissolved in 1/2 cup warm water, set aside 6 eggs 1 tsp salt 1tsp lemon zest, grated 6oz (170g) butter 1 3/4 cup sugar 1 1/2 cup milk 8 cups sifted flour Method Heat together, stirring constantly over very low heat, the butter, sugar, eggs, milk and salt and lemon; until butter melts. Remove from heat and stir in yeast. Gradually add the flour until ball is formed but is still sticky. Put in large greased bowl and leave to rise overnight. Shape into loaves and allow to rise again. Bake in 350 degree oven,depending on size of loaves, for 30-45 minutes Brush with melted butter after baking. Cooks Comments and Tips . |
