Portuguese Sweet Bread 3 Recipe
Ingredients 1/2 cup milk 1 pkt. yeast 1/2 cup warm water 1/2 cup margarine 3/4 cup sugar 4 eggs 2 tsp lemon zest, grated 4 cup flour 1 tsp salt 1/2 cup raisins (optional) Method Heat milk until bubbles appear around edge. Cool to lukewarm. Dissolve yeast in warm water and mix well. Leave to stand for 10 minutes. Beat margarine, sugar, eggs and lemon zest in large bowl for 10 minutes. Add milk and yeast, and blend thoroughly. Mix in the flour and salt and then cover. Leave to rise until doubled in volume. Punch down, add raisins. Spoon into well buttered pan. Cover; leave to rise 45 minutes or until double. 7. Bake at 350 degrees 50 minutes or until bread gives a hollow sound when tapped. Cool on wire rack. Cooks Comments and Tips . |
