Portuguese Portugese Easter Bread Recipe
Ingredients 3 cakes yeast 1 cup lukewarm water 12 cup flour 1 tbsp salt 3 cup sugar 12 eggs, well beaten 2 cups lukewarm milk 1 cup butter, melted Method Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water and set aside. Sift flour and salt together into a large pan. Mix sugar and eggs with lukewarm milk. Add sugar and egg mixture to flour. Stir in yeast. Knead until mixture has consistency of bread dough. Add melted butter, kneading a little more and adding more flour as necessary. Cover and leave to rise until doubled in size. Shape into loaves and allow to rise again. Bake in 350 degree oven for approximately 35-45 minutes depending on size of the loaves. Cool on wire rack. Cooks Comments and Tips . |
