Portuguese Easter Bread Recipe
Ingredients 1 1/4 cup warm water 2 envelopes active dry yeast 1 cup sugar 7 cup unbleached white flour 6 tbsp powdered milk 6 beaten eggs 6 tbsp soft butter 1 tsp salt Method Dissolve yeast in water. Add sugar, powdered milk, and 2 cups of the flour. Let simmer for 1/2 hour. Add 5 eggs, butter and salt, then enough flour to make a smooth, kneadable dough. Punch down, cut in half and shape into 2 round loaves; place in 2 greased 9-inch pie tins. leave to rise until doubled. Brush with remaining beaten egg and bake at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes.
