Italian Recipe Marinara Recipe
Ingredients 2lb Mussels (scrubbed and debearded) 250mls Red Wine 2 tins Chopped Tomatoes 1 Onion (chopped) 3 cloves Garlic (sliced) 8oz Mushrooms 2 teaspoons Italian Seasoning Fresh Basil (chopped) Parmesan Cheese (optional) Method Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large saucepan saute the onion and garlic on a low heat. Add basil leaves, italian seasoning, mushrooms and saute for 15 minutes. Add the tomatoes and simmer for 30 minutes stirring frequently. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Steam the mussels in the red wine until the shells open. Leave to cool and remove half the shell. Arrange the mussels on large plates and pour over the sauce. Garnish with parmesan cheese (optional). Cooks Comments and Tips To my favourite italian recipe marinara I like to add 1/4 teaspoon of chilli powder to give it a bit of zing, but this is just personal choice, so do experiment and see how you prefer it. |
