Italian Tiramisu Recipe
Ingredients 4 Egg Yolks 3oz Icing Sugar 8oz Mascarpone Cheese 150ml Double Cream (whipped) 150ml Cold Black Coffee (strong) 4 tbsp Marsala wine (optional) 20 Sponge Fingers Cocoa powder for topping Method Beat the yolks and sugar until thick and creamy. Add the mascarpone, mix thoroughly and then gently fold in the whipped cream. Add the Marsala to the black coffee. Dip the sponge fingers into the coffee. Lay half the sponge fingers in the bottom of a glass tray and spoon over half the mascarpone cream. Repeat with another layer. Chill for 2 hours. Dust with cocoa powder before serving. Cooks Comments and Tips The original Italian tiramisu recipe did not have alcohol but most of today's versions have, its just a matter of personal taste. My daughter doesn't like coffee so we have a different version we make when she visits with a cup of chocolate made with the cocoa powder instead of coffee and a chocolate cream liqueur.
