Italian Sausage Bread Recipe
Ingredients 1lb Pizza Dough 4oz Mozzarella (grated) 2oz Cheese (grated) 1lb Sausage Meat 1 Egg beaten with 1 tablespoon Water 1 large Onion (chopped) 1 Green Pepper (chopped) Method Leave the dough to rise in a warm place until it has doubled in size. (2-3 hours). Crumble the sausage meat and saute with onion and pepper. Then drain well. Punch the air out of the dough and cut in half. Roll into two rectangles and top each one with half the meat and cheese. Roll up and place in shallow baking tray seam side down. Repeat with the other half. Brush with egg mixture. Cut 3 slits 1" inch long in each loaf. Bake at 375 degrees for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Cooks Comments and Tips This tasty sausage bread can be served on it's own, with a tomato sauce or alternatively a lovely fresh salad. |
